Just a few more days left in 2022! To ring in the new year this week, I’ve got a glittery new year’s firework animation for you! ✨

This is a beginner to intermediate animation tutorial, so if you’ve taken my free Procreate for Beginners class, you’ll have no trouble following along. I’ve sized it perfectly for Instagram reels, but please feel free to adjust it however you’d like!

I’ve been playing around with several different Halloween-themed animations, trying to pick the right one for this year (here’s last year’s!), but once I landed on this one, I knew it was the one. It’s definitely a little different than what you usually see from me, but the (surprisingly easy) animated flame/smoke effect was something I couldn’t resist sharing.

It’s been far too long since I’ve shared an animation tutorial, so this week, we’re creating an easy birthday sparkler! If you have a basic to intermediate understanding of Procreate, but haven’t explored animating yet, this tutorial was made for you 🙂

We’ll start by creating our base illustration, then create a new canvas and set the flattened artwork as our background layer. Next, we’ll start creating our different frames and I’ll share my favorite animation + export settings so it’ll be ready to share once finished! 💥

With Halloween closing in on us this coming weekend, I couldn’t let it pass without something to celebrate! This week, we’re creating some multi-colored glowing outline lettering, adding some spider webs and even including our little friend dangling off of one of the letters. We take it even further by adding in a simple animation to the spider, too! And we’re only using one brush for all of it!

Happy Tuesday! I’ve got something a little different for you this week based on a convo Spence and I had a few weeks ago. Behind the scenes, Spence has been redesigning our website and we always bounce ideas off one another for the different pages. When it came to our contact page, we were thinking of adding a surprise animation once someone hits ‘send’, so I put together this quick idea and we both loved it. It’ll be a little while before the design is live (since Spence is doing everything from design to code), but I’m already excited for this easy paper airplane animation to take flight on the page.

Happy Tuesday! While birthdays aren’t what they used to be as you get older (I’ll be 35 on Sunday) and now we also have a pandemic thrown in, I say let’s celebrate the little things by throwing some digital confetti 😉 For all of your celebrations this year, I have a very beginner friendly confetti animation this week to cheer things up!

Happy Tuesday! This week, we’re creating an old school mix tape from scratch, then animating it! This is my most advanced animation tutorial yet – not only will we create a more complex design together, we’ll animated the tape wheels + tape simultaneously using the ping pong option in the animation assist panel. As always, the project color palette (and monoweight brush) are both available for free (also in the Resource Library.

A few weeks ago, I asked on my Instagram if anyone wanted to learn how to make animated gifs in Procreate. After reading through the responses, I knew I couldn’t stop with just one! So I created 2 tutorials 😉 The first one is meant for beginners: getting the basics down + understanding how the file needs to be built. The second tutorial is a bit more advanced, since we utilize masking to make ‘drawn in’ lettering. Now that Procreate offers an export option for animated mp4s, it’s even easier to post your animations straight to instagram. Read on to see both tutorials!
