This week is our most advanced project of them all, so if you’re just starting out with Procreate, be sure to check out vid 1 + 2 first. In this tutorial, we’ll be creating a sealed floral love letter surrounded by flat style forget me not flowers. We’ll build our envelope from scratch by utilizing a sketch layer with drawing guides, then layer on color and elements for a final piece that is embellished with lettering.

It’s almost Valentine’s Day! If you’re creating your own valentines this year or have ever needed a heart shape in the past, then you know it’s not a default shape that comes with Illustrator. It can also be a little tricky to figure out using the default shapes as ‘shape builders.’ In this week’s tutorial, I share my favorite 3 (quick) ways to create a heart shape in Illustrator. Read on to see them all!

It’s the last Thursday in January, which means it’s time for your free February 2019 desktop wallpapers! This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. This month, I used some of the tips from my 3D Lettering in Procreate course to create a fun dimensional lettering feel with a nod to Valentine’s Day 🙂 All of the lettering + doodles were made using my free Procreate Monoweight Brush (available in the Resource Library). The small glitter details in the background were added using my Procreate Metallic Texture KitFor the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.

The download includes the February 2019 desktop wallpapers in two common resolutions: 1280x1024px and 1920x1080px, with and without dates. I’ve left the year off of the ‘no-dates’ versions, so you can use it for any February in the future, too!

Can you believe Valentine’s Day is next week?! If you’d like to DIY this year, this watercolor florals Valentine’s Day card in Adobe Illustrator can be created on a lunch break 😉 In this week’s tutorial, we create a quick and simple vector heart, then surround it with watercolor florals and a radial gradient background. It’s a print ready file, so you’ll be good to go for printing at home from start to finish. If you’re new to working with digital watercolor florals, there’s a free mini kit below to get you started!

It’s the last Thursday in January, which means it’s time for your free February 2018 desktop wallpapers! While my husband, Spence, recovered from recent hip surgery, I kept him company in our livingroom, doodling out wallpapers on the iPad. This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. The silver glitter you see is from my Procreate Metallic Texture Kit, available here. For the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.

I’ve always thought that Valentine’s Day is, by far, the most fun holiday to make (or buy) and send cards for. I mean, what could be better than showering your loved ones with hilarious puns? 😉

If you’re in a pinch this year, I’ve got just the thing to help! Check out these eight adorable, simple, and totally DIY-able Valentine’s Day cards for those of you who love graphic design and/or handlettering.

One of the changes I’m happiest I made last year was finally joining the amazing people on Instagram (I know, superrrr late to the party). I had created an account a couple of years before, but I had been so focused on creating tutorials and getting the blog to a good place that sticking to regular Instagram postings seemed too overwhelming at the time.

Last year, I felt like I had finally hit a rhythm and I’m so glad that I decided to add Instagram into my weekly mix. I am literally amazed every single day by incredible artists creating and posting breathtaking art (cue guilt on party lateness). I love the camaraderie, the new insta-friends I’ve made and the ability to connect with people/artists/designers who are passionate about the same things. In honor of them, I wanted to start a new monthly/bi-monthly post where I share some instagrammers who I deeply admire and who I think you’ll also love. Welcome to post #1 where I’m sharing my first 5 (of many, many, many) InstaLoves.

On March 5, 2012, I started my previous job. While I had met many of the people who worked there my first week, the sound of a guy’s voice who I was sure I hadn’t met yet (because I knew I would have remembered that voice) caught my attention. I could hear it coming from the stairwell, around the corner from where I sat back then. On a group lunch outing, we had finally officially met. Spencer – tall, dark hair, brown eyes and a soccer player’s calves. A girl could do worse, haha. But we both worked together and that kind of thing can get tricky if you’re not both 100% sure of taking that leap. By the end of that July, we threw caution aside and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

Holy moly. I turn 29 tomorrow. This year is a big year! I'm marrying that handsome fella in September and I have so many things planned for the blog, youtube, and maybe some other little surprises peppered
