After the seamless pattern tutorial the other week and the free seamless pattern brushes last week, I wasn’t quite ready to stop this pattern train 🚂 So this week, I’m sharing how I make a seamless pattern brush in Procreate. But this is soooo much more than just a standard pattern brush tutorial. I’m also sharing how I add transparency and texture to those brushes, alllll of my pattern brush settings *and* how I use color dynamics to create soft gradients 🤩 There’s a TON of info packed into this one and the possibilities really are endless!

We’re kicking off my annual holiday tutorial series this week with tutorial number 1 of 6! I’ve got a bunch of fun projects for you this year that you’ll be able to repurpose however you’d like for both digital and stationery needs! Today, we’re starting with some easy evergreen doodles using chalk brushes for that nice hard + soft feel, then finishing it up with hand lettering and a textured, two toned border.

Happy Tuesday! This week, I have a sweet treat for you..macarons! I won’t lie, these def gave me cravings as I was painting, so beware (or have some handy ahead of time ;). In the video, we trace a reference photo to establish our sketch template, then use the photo loosely for painting in our midtones, highlights and shadows. We use several brushes from my watercolor illustration brush set to paint, smudge and add final details, like a watercolor paper texture, hand lettering and paint splatter. When I received these Karin markers a few weeks ago, I obsessively played with them for days on end. Unlike other watercolor markers I’ve tried, these ones were packed with pigment, so easy to use and blended like a dream with water. It’s the last Thursday in November, which means it’s time for your free December 2019 desktop wallpapers! This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. I’ve wanted to try a ribbon style lettering wallpaper for awhile and December felt like the perfect month for it! If this is something you’d like to see a tutorial for, leave a comment and I’ll put it on my list! For the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.

I started drawing some leaves for this one, and then I just couldn’t stop! So here is a leafy explosion for November 😉 The lettering and doodles were both made using my ‘Mono Marker’ brush from my Font Lovers Procreate Lettering Brushes. For the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.

It’s the last Thursday in February (and also my 33rd birthday!), which means it’s time for your free March 2019 desktop wallpapers! This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. Like last month, I used some of the tips from my 3D Lettering in Procreate course to create a fun dimensional lettering feel plus a nod to St. Patrick’s Day 🙂 All of the lettering + doodles were made using my free Procreate Monoweight Brush (available in the Resource Library). The small gold details in the background were added using my Procreate Metallic Texture Kit. For the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.
