Happy Tuesday! We had a few 70*F weather days in February here, so springtime has been on my mind a lot lately. In the spirit of the upcoming season (for those of us in the Northern hemisphere), I’ve got a spring themed sales tag this week for you! You can use this for any kind of promo throughout the year, or change up the messaging to create a fun gift tag for any personal occasion, too!

Happy Tuesday! While birthdays aren’t what they used to be as you get older (I’ll be 35 on Sunday) and now we also have a pandemic thrown in, I say let’s celebrate the little things by throwing some digital confetti 😉 For all of your celebrations this year, I have a very beginner friendly confetti animation this week to cheer things up!

This week, we’re drawing a wrapped flower bouquet in Procreate! We’re adding a little bit of complexity to things by creating several floral elements and working in a very organized fashion with layers and groups. We’re also adding in a few shadow elements to add dimension to the whole piece. We’ll finish it off with a sweet message – hand lettered or with editable text.

Happy last Tuesday of 2020! We’re finishing up this year’s episodes of my Procreate holiday greeting series today with a New Year’s greeting!

In the spirit of wishing 2020 farewell for good, I thought it’d be fun to create a little mistletoe greeting to send it off 😉

In the tutorial, we’ll first look at a reference photo of mistletoe pulled from my pinterest board, then we’ll sketch out our full layout. We’ll fully freehand our mistletoe based on what we saw in our reference image, then add in a little hand lettering with some dotted swirls as a finishing touch. We’re using my paid set of watercolor illustration brushes for this, as well as my free dotted brush and the color palette is free, as always (also available in the Resource Library).

Happy almost-Halloween! With all the fun crafts that Halloween inspires, I couldn’t let it pass without adding a DIY to the mix! It’s been a little while since we had a craft tutorial and this is my biggest one yet. This week, we’ll create some mixed media 3D Halloween lettering you can use as decoration anywhere! We’ll plan it out + paint it with watercolor, add details with fineliner pens AND add some sparkle to finish it off. I’ll take you through my process of painting 3D, pop-off-the-page lettering, as well as how I plan out flourishing to frame the final piece. Read on to create your own mixed media 3D Halloween lettering!

After I created this tutorial, I received a few questions about how to create pattern brushes with corners in Illustrator. If you ever need your pattern brush applied to a 90º angle, you’ll need to implement custom corners. Here’s the kicker, though; Illustrator CC makes corners super easy when the pattern brush is geometric. When your pattern brush is hand drawn, there are extra considerations to make, so we’re covering them all in this week’s tutorial. Read on to create hand drawn pattern brushes with corners!

New Year’s Eve is less than a week away! To celebrate, I thought I’d cheers you Every-Tuesday style with a couple of cocktail glasses created in Adobe Illustrator. This tutorial is very doable if you’re a beginner, but the pace is a little quick, so just a head’s up. We’ll be in Illustrator CC for this one since we’re using the live corners option for smooth contours on our glasses. If you’re not using CC, this can still be done, but you’ll want to visit your appearance palette > stylize > round corners. Ready to get started? Full video + all the colors used are below!

Before we hit the end of the year, I was brainstorming ideas for winter themed illustrations, and mittens seemed perfect. I love how easy they are to make your own: design/decoration, shape and color! In this beginner-friendly (but some prior knowledge will be helpful) tutorial, we create a pair of cute winter mittens in Adobe Illustrator. Follow exactly or edit them to make em your own! Illustrator CC is recommended since we make use of some new features to speed up the workflow, but the result is still achievable in older versions. Read on to see how!
