With graduation season fast approaching, I recently added a new item to creative market – a retro style graduation announcement. In this video tutorial, I show how I made the entire template from scratch, using only Adobe Illustrator. The final file is print ready @300dpi CMYK and is sized 5″x7″ with 1/8″ bleeds on all sides. If you like the file but don’t want to make it, you can pick it up here. The following free fonts were used in this template: Novecento Sans Wide Normal (you’ll have to create a free myfonts.com account to download), Novecento Sans Wide Bold, Homestead Inline, and Amatic Bold. The tutorial is split in two parts: the first is the foundation of the template and includes setting the background color, border and graphic elements. The second shows all of the type setting, alignment and layering + organizing the file for the final result. Here we go!
