As Spence and I continue brainstorming our wedding invites, I’ve had flourishes and frame elements on the brain a lot lately. It’s so much harder (but so rewarding!) when you’re designing something for yourself! This past weekend I designed a whole set of flourishes + frames in my pursuit to exhaust every option. 🙂

My flourish extravaganza has led to this week’s freebie: a set of vector flourishes and frame elements for Illustrator, CS3 or newer.

Happy 2015! To ring in the new year freebie-style, this week’s freebie is a set of 5 unique hand drawn vector bursts. Use these on invitations, web banners, social media posts and more. I’ve found they’re perfect for creating more energy in your layouts, as well as providing a focus wherever you let the center of the burst lie. Download includes all 5 bursts as an ai and eps file for versions of Illustrator, CS3 or newer. Read on for the download link + larger preview images!

Hey friends, I’m back! Thanks so much for understanding the small break – we’re still very much in the midst of unpacking + cleaning every square inch of the apartment, but we’re here – we are officially in our house as homeowners 🙂 We couldn’t have asked for things to move smoother – we found the house within 2.5 weeks of looking and officially owned it 3 weeks later! If anyone is looking for a realtor in or around Atlanta, let me know and I’ll hook you up 😉 Anyway! With a house so much on the brain, it seemed only right to make some real estate/home themed icons!

Dividers are one of the handiest design elements out there. Whether online or in print, they help to separate information, add style to a layout, and even a little personality. Some of my favorite places to drop them in are on invitations, social media posts and greeting cards. Since hand drawn is one of the best ways to infuse personality, this week’s freebie is a set of 10 hand drawn vector dividers, perfect for web + print. The download includes all 10 dividers as an ai, eps, and psd file for versions of Illustrator and Photoshop, CS3 or newer. Start incorporating them into your work immediately, no matter which program you’re using! Preview below 😉

Happy Tuesday! This week’s freebie is a 3 pack of hand drawn decorative vector frames – perfect for invitations, fancy names + information, table numbers and seating cards. Download includes the three pictured below as an ai + eps file for versions of Illustrator, CS3 or newer, as well as a psd file with each frame as a separate smart object, also for CS3 or newer.

Happy Tuesday! With summer just around the corner and everything getting more green by the day, I was in the mood to draw some flowers. 🙂 So! This week’s freebie is a mini flower kit: it includes 15 hand drawn vector flowers, leaves, stems + vines. Create combinations easily by putting different pieces together, so the kit gets even larger! These were all 100% hand drawn and vectorized. The download includes all 15 as an ai + eps file for versions of Illustrator, CS3 or newer.

Happy Tuesday! Who doesn’t love a good ribbon? They fit well on practically everything – stationery, web graphics, blog headers, gifts, logos, packaging, etc. And who doesn’t also love options? 😉 To fulfill all of your ribbon style wishes, this week’s freebie is a big one – a set of 20 hand drawn vector ribbons! Every ribbon comes as an ai + eps file for versions of Adobe Illustrator, CS3 or newer. Scale at will, put em on everything, and download them now!

Saving down an Illustrator file is one of my most common habits as a designer. Whether I’m making templates or creating a logo for a client, I always save my Illustrator files down to at least CS3, so anyone who has older software will still be able to open and edit the files I provide. Much like InDesign, if you save a file in a recent version, like CS6, someone working in CS4 wouldn’t be able to open that file. In this quick tip tutorial, I show how easy it is to save an Illustrator file down to an older version of Illustrator.
