On Tuesday, we walked step by step, creating our own hipster-style clothing tag vector shapes and designs from scratch in Illustrator. Knowing which shape you’d like your tag to be when you begin informs all of the design decisions you make afterwards. The cool thing about tags is that there are soooo many options when it comes to shapes! I’ve found having a few ideas in mind of which shape I’d like helps me to sketch out a bunch of ideas quickly, which makes my final shape decision a confident one.
Picking up where we left off on Tuesday, this week’s freebie is a set of clothing tag vector shapes! Below you’ll find a download for the Illustrator file for CS3 or newer, as well as a printable pdf you can use to start sketching right on the tag shapes. Pretty handy. 😉 To add a little extra dose of realism, I’ve also included a tag string for each one.

When you’re ready to place your vector designs on the shape, remember to utilize clipping masks, unless you’re using a pattern swatch, like in Tuesday’s video. Tag strings are additional, separate elements, all on their own layer in the layers palette.
10Â individual tag shapes are included in the download. Be sure to check out this pinterest board for inspiration as you brainstorm and design!

Extra tip: these shapes don’t have to be used just for clothing tags! Use these freebies to create custom birthday tags, labels for household goods or on your holiday gifts, too! Time to make some tags!

Hi, Teela thank you so much for such good designs, can you please help me with downloading it as after I have downloaded it, it opens as a PDF or a JPEG and I can’t insert it in my projects! ( I am talking about the Freebies)
Note: I dont have Adobe Phototshop or Illustrator

Hey Koyna!
The pdf was meant for printing out, so you could sketch out your designs – you’ll need Illustrator to use the template on the computer – apologies for any confusion there!
