The *slightly* cooler almost-fall temps here in Georgia have been dreamy this past week. We took a bunch of nice (humidity free!) walks and even visited Gibbs Gardens for the first time (highly recommend!). I felt so inspired after the trip to Gibbs that of course I spent hours doodling flowers afterwards. It also got me thinking about the different ways to use that floral artwork and that’s where today’s tutorial comes in 🌼

This week I’m sharing not only how to paint a sketchy style fall bouquet (no drawing experience necessary!), but how to save it out as a transparent graphic and then how to use that graphic on 3 different applications. So it’s basically 5 tutorials in one: paint a fall bouquet, save it as a transparent graphic, then how to make 3 different designs with it. Get ready for lots of fun this week! 🤩

One of Spring’s first cues here in the south are moths flying around porch lights in the evenings. This sent me down a rabbit hole of ideas and searching through pages of moth photography 😂There are just.soooo.many! And many beautiful ones I had never seen before. Instead of just illustrating a moth, this week, we’re adding a little doodle magic and lots of fun, gritty texture. ✨

After the seamless pattern tutorial the other week and the free seamless pattern brushes last week, I wasn’t quite ready to stop this pattern train 🚂 So this week, I’m sharing how I make a seamless pattern brush in Procreate. But this is soooo much more than just a standard pattern brush tutorial. I’m also sharing how I add transparency and texture to those brushes, alllll of my pattern brush settings *and* how I use color dynamics to create soft gradients 🤩 There’s a TON of info packed into this one and the possibilities really are endless!

A couple weeks ago, I shared 3 tricks for creating unique grit textures. This week, I’m sharing how to create a gritty photoshop texture brush using a texture we created! This texture brush can be used for borders, backgrounds, illustrations and more (tutorial on those coming soon!). In the video, I share my scan settings and how I edit the texture before ever creating a brush with it. Once the texture is optimized, I share some of my favorite Photoshop texture brush settings. These are settings that you can easily implement into future texture brushes, too. It’s been a little while since I’ve posted a watercolor tutorial! If you’ve been here for some time, you know we can’t have that 😉 This week I want to share how to create a custom watercolor photoshop brush! Having a watercolor photoshop brush in your brush library is super handy for two reasons: #1 you don’t have to file > place large textures or search for them on your computer, and #2 it keeps file sizes smaller. These are really quick to create and can be huge time savers. See the full tutorial below!
