One of Spring’s first cues here in the south are moths flying around porch lights in the evenings. This sent me down a rabbit hole of ideas and searching through pages of moth photography 😂There are just.soooo.many! And many beautiful ones I had never seen before. Instead of just illustrating a moth, this week, we’re adding a little doodle magic and lots of fun, gritty texture. ✨

I’ve had a few requests for advanced tutorials lately, so we’re closing out the year with my most advanced tutorial to date: complex ribbons! If you’re brand new to Procreate, you’ll want to take my free course before tackling this beauty. We’ll be combining selections, masking variations and depth effects, along with determining hierarchy within our ribbon folds. Even if you are a more advanced Procreate user, my hope is that you’ll still learn a few new tricks you can carry with you into the new year 😉

I just loooove a layered illusion, especially when it’s made of simple elements where your eyes don’t have to focus on a zillion things. What’s better is being able to replicate that same process with any element! Today I’m sharing a really easy method for an impactful depth illusion and we’re doing it all with *one* brush. Use this on stationery, social media posts, quote graphics…you name it!

I’ve had a few requests for advanced tutorials, so if you’re up for a challenge, this week’s tutorial is for you! This is one of my favorite depth effects when it comes to lettering; I love how it starts out completely flat and things pop forward more and more as you go – soooo satisfying! You can use this same effect on overlapping shapes or even your favorite font if you don’t want to use lettering – win, win!
