I experiment with new materials and supplies constantly for my (traditional) hand lettering. I would actually be scared to know how much time I’ve spent eyeing different hand lettering supplies (and reading their reviews) over on Amazon. I’ve invested in a lot of new ones this year and currently I have 5 favorites that I find myself always returning to and reordering. If you’re just starting out with lettering, or if you’re on the hunt for some new supplies but would like to read a real (almost every day) user review, here are my current top 5 favorite hand lettering supplies (totally unbiased, with no affiliation to any of em) 🙂

In Tuesday’s video, I shared my graphic design story and today I wanted to share what my current design workspace looks like, as well as some of my favorite desk items that I use every week, if not every day. I’ve definitely gone through my fair share of printers, tablets and computers, so listed below, you’ll find names and links to all of my top picks and why I chose and use what I do 🙂 I hope this helps anyone who may be on the fence with anything desk-related (I did a lot of thorough research before I started adding to cart, so I know how helpful a user review can be). As many of you know, I’ve been kind of crazy about watercolors lately (check out my new Skillshare class, this tutorial, or this one for proof!) and have started receiving emails asking what art supplies I’m using for creating my fine art assets – whether it’s textures, lettering, or just types of paper. Today I wanted to share the exact art supplies I’ve been using on a weekly basis to create everything you’ve seen here over the last few months. I hope this list will eliminate some of your own guess work (as I researched all of these supplies thoroughly before investing in them) – and help you to create your own future assets!

If you haven’t guessed it by now, I’m a little bit obsessed with typography! Every year around my birthday (next Saturday!) or around the holidays, when my family asks what they could gift me, I always ask for some kind of book relating to lettering or type. I love these books because, although there is sooooo much online, there are always gems buried deep within those book jackets or paperback covers. And while it’s common to come across a lot of recycled material online, it’s nice to be inspired by something different. So if you’re looking for some lettering books to inspire your next project, here are some of my favorite lettering books – and I own all of them…except for #5, that’s getting delivered tomorrow 🙂

If you’re a text fiend like me, you know choosing proper fonts for any type of application can make or break it (no pressure). Luckily, there are a lot of super talented typeface makers out there that create solid solutions to pull you out of – what can sometimes feel like – a font options abyss. You just need to know what you’re looking for. This is the first in a new monthly post of my current favorite fonts, free or purchased, that I can’t get enough of or would highly recommend for a specific purpose. Below each font, I’ll list what I like and dislike, which type of application I would use it for, how I’d use it, and what kind of typeface I would pair it with. So, month no.1, here we go!

I’m preparing to update/redo my entire portfolio site, so I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect theme for quite awhile now. The problem is, so many themes I come across are full of flashy parallax driven gimmicks. Don’t get me wrong; an unexpected smooth moving parallax effect still gives me the ooo’s and ahh’s, but it’s been tough finding ‘the one’ that doesn’t completely overdo it for me. I don’t think it’s that I’m too picky, I actually think it’s because with all of the options to get funky, it’s harder to get simple.
