Happy June! Time to kick off video no.2 of 3 in my mini gardening series with an herb garden! My real cilantro was MIA this week, but I’m loving having fresh thyme and basil every week. I’d love to start a vegetable garden now that we have the outdoor space (we currently grow our herbs indoors), but there was a chigger incident last summer (if you don’t know what they are, brace yourself if you look them up!), so Spence and I are both a little scarred still. We’ll get there, but this will not be the year 😂

This week is our most advanced project of them all, so if you’re just starting out with Procreate, be sure to check out vid 1 + 2 first. In this tutorial, we’ll be creating a sealed floral love letter surrounded by flat style forget me not flowers. We’ll build our envelope from scratch by utilizing a sketch layer with drawing guides, then layer on color and elements for a final piece that is embellished with lettering.

While my heart will always be tied especially close to traditional art supplies, I love the possibilities Procreate now provides. I love being able to experiment with new brushes and paint in a way that can feel so realistic…digitally! I have a bonus section of my Watercolor Lettering in Procreate course that goes over the basics of watercolor leaves and florals in Procreate. If you haven’t checked the course out yet, I wanted to give you a little sneak peek this week with a winter watercolor bouquet in Procreate! After the positive feedback from the coffee icon tutorial, I thought it would be fun to follow it with a cute notebook icon since they go so well together in real life 🙂 This one is slightly more advanced; We’ll be working off of my illustration vs a stock photo (though you can totally use a stock one if you’d like!). There are also quite a few additional components compared to the coffee icon, but this is still very doable for beginners! Read on to create your own cute notebook icon in Adobe Illustrator!
