Happy Tuesday! Today we’re creating something I love, love to make – digital stickers! This is such a fun effect to apply to your work because it looks like they’re actually lifting up off the screen!

I’m labeling this tutorial as advanced because there are several steps utilizing different methods to achieve our look. If you’re an intermediate Procreate user, this will be a fun challenge project to do! Once you have the steps down, you can apply the effect to any graphic you’d like.

This is one of my new favorite lettering effects in Procreate! A couple years ago, I showed how to do something similar in Photoshop, so I thought, “Why not try it in Procreate?” Turns out, it’s even easier in Procreate! I wanted to change things up a little this week and go super down to basics. The truth is, when it comes to learning, a lot of the times, I’m most inspired by just *watching* the thing happen. Seeing it take place, someone else’s process without all the nitty gritty little details along the way – just the ‘have-to-knows’ first. Maybe you’re like that too. On the chance you are when it comes to lettering, this week I want to go super simple and just share how I would do a basic lettered quote/phrase on the iPad – what I think about as I’m writing, what I’m paying attention to, and what I do to change course when maybe things aren’t going exactly how I like them. This week’s tutorial isn’t the sexiest thing ever, but it’s extremely useful if you work on multiple machines, need to share digital assets with clients + fellow designers, are a super organized person looking to be more digitally organized, or have an old computer you’re in constant fear will crap out on you at any moment. This one’s for you!

One thing’s for sure, if you’ve been designing for any length of time, a program has crashed on you at some point and when you reopen, things look a little different in the swatches, brushes and patterns department. If you never saved these digital assets pre-crash, they are lost (along with that pleasant mood you had 5 seconds before) in file purgatory.

In this week’s tutorial, we’ll dull the pain of lost assets by going over exactly how to save patterns and brushes in Illustrator and Photoshop so you’ll know where to find them if you ever need a reinstall, or if you just want to share them. Read on to see how!
