Our daughter’s birthday is December 28th (she’ll be 4 this year!) and she knows as soon as ‘the leaves are off the trees and the lights are up’ it means her birthday is getting close 🥰 Spence and I never used to decorate right after Thanksgiving, but now that we’ve got a little one that the lights mean so much to, we’re on it like clockwork. Since we’ll be shivering on ladders in a few days, it felt only fitting to share that holiday tradition in tutorial form this week 🤩

It’s time for our final tutorial (no.6) in this year’s holiday series! But don’t worry – I still have a New Year’s design up my sleeve for next week 😉 Today, we’re creating holiday lights, surrounding them with evergreen elements and then making our bulbs and lettering glow! I’m labeling this an intermediate tutorial, but there are a few advanced skills thrown in, too, if you’re up for an extra challenge.

Happy last Tuesday of 2020! We’re finishing up this year’s episodes of my Procreate holiday greeting series today with a New Year’s greeting!

In the spirit of wishing 2020 farewell for good, I thought it’d be fun to create a little mistletoe greeting to send it off 😉

In the tutorial, we’ll first look at a reference photo of mistletoe pulled from my pinterest board, then we’ll sketch out our full layout. We’ll fully freehand our mistletoe based on what we saw in our reference image, then add in a little hand lettering with some dotted swirls as a finishing touch. We’re using my paid set of watercolor illustration brushes for this, as well as my free dotted brush and the color palette is free, as always (also available in the Resource Library).

It’s the last Thursday in February (and also my 33rd birthday!), which means it’s time for your free March 2019 desktop wallpapers! This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. Like last month, I used some of the tips from my 3D Lettering in Procreate course to create a fun dimensional lettering feel plus a nod to St. Patrick’s Day 🙂 All of the lettering + doodles were made using my free Procreate Monoweight Brush (available in the Resource Library). The small gold details in the background were added using my Procreate Metallic Texture KitFor the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.

The download includes the March 2019 desktop wallpapers in two common resolutions: 1280x1024px and 1920x1080px, with and without dates. I’ve left the year off of the ‘no-dates’ versions, so you can use it for any March in the future, too!
