I’ve got a 3 part ‘love series’ leading up to Valentine’s Day this year and today is tutorial no. 1! These will all be beginner/intermediate skill levels, so if you’re a more advanced user, there’s plenty of opportunity to take the designs in any direction that you’d like. This week, we’re getting things started with a little coffee date ☕️
I wanted to try something new this week! I thought it would be fun to show how to create something analog/traditionally, then how to recreate that same artwork in Procreate. Two tutorials in one 😉 For this video, we’ll create watercolor block lettering with some traditional methods, then we’ll move into Procreate after. Read on for the full tutorial!
This is one of those questions that has a lot of variables, so I’m sharing my process specifically this week. The main variables include what kind of monitor you have, what kind of printer you’re using and what type of paper you’re printing on. There are SO many different combinations of those three items that it’s difficult to say, ‘do this and you’re set!’ I’ll break down everything to keep in mind, though, and share my best tips for how to print artwork from Procreate. I’m realllly excited about this week’s Procreate tutorial! Little polaroids are some of my favorite things to make – you’ll definitely notice that if you’ve spent any time on my site. Now that Procreate has the quick shape tool, they’re super simple to make! In this week’s tutorial, I’m sharing how to create peeling polaroids in Procreate by applying 3 different shadow types. I’m even sharing my method for applying a trendy shadow on the top, too! Read on to see it all!
It’s the last day in July, which means it’s time for your free August 2019 desktop wallpapers! This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. For more on Procreate flourishing + basics, check out my free course, Procreate for Beginners! I really enjoyed altering my flourish style a bit for July’s wallpaper, so I wanted to play around some more for August! All of the lettering + doodles were made using my free Procreate Monoweight Brush (available in the Resource Library). For the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.
The download includes the August 2019 desktop wallpapers in two common resolutions: 1280x1024px and 1920x1080px, with and without dates. I’ve left the year off of the ‘no-dates’ versions, so you can use it for any August in the future, too!
A while back, I created this tutorial where I shared 10 lettering enhancements anyone can do. The responses to the video have been amazing, so this week I wanted to take things a step further with a lettering shadows version! Adding shadows to lettering can really takes things to the next pop-off-the-page level. The best part is they are super simple to implement! In celebration of Spring, I thought it would be fun to keep the floral party going into Procreate! The last couple of weeks we painted watercolor florals and this week we’re drawing digital ones 😉 In this week’s tutorial, we’ll plan, customize and create custom floral wreaths in Procreate. I’m using an iPad Pro (12.9″, 256GB), Apple Pencil, Procreate and my custom monoline procreate brush for this (available for free in the resource library).
