Happy April tomorrow!

Everything felt very non-stop sprint throughout all of March. Most of it was due to my ocd with getting the ebook as perfect as possible. If I didn’t become a designer, I would have been a writer, so I naturally spend more time than I probably should carefully crafting sentences and evaluating word choices. But! It’s finally out into the world and I’ve returned to breathing once again 🙂 (I made a free preview of the book available yesterday! If you’re interested, click here to download it!)

I’m really looking forward to diving back into design tutorials this coming month. It seems like I’ve been away from them longer than 4 weeks and I’ve missed putting them together. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of prep on an upcoming Intro to Photoshop class. This will be the best quality course I’ve ever done (a real production team-quality!) and it’s hard to keep in the excitement for it, but I’ll have many more details as the month goes on 🙂 I’m also planning my next Skillshare class this month, so if you’re on the every-tuesday email list, keep an eye out because free spots to the class will be heading your way soon!

Until then, pick up your free April 2016 desktop wallpaper to keep things on track in two common formats: 1920×1080 + 1280×1024 both with and without dates. Download link + previews below!

Happy February! This month is an extra special month for me because on the 28th, I’ll be turning 30, and saying farewell to my 20’s forever. It’s funny how fast 10 years go by and how fast they don’t. When I was 20, I had just transferred from my community college in upstate NY to SCAD in Savannah, GA, where I didn’t know a single person. I was still working the customer service desk at the local grocery store during school breaks, eating dorm food for the first time, and navigating a new city by foot and by bus with my (very) untrustworthy natural sense of direction.

With January already well underway, it was definitely time for a desktop wallpaper update! Since we didn’t travel for the holidays, Spence and I have started our 2016 working hard on some exciting new projects! My first ever brush script font is getting ready to enter the font-editor phase (will be available later this month!) and every other extra minute has been spent creating classes, new tutorials, and writing the ebook on getting a full time graphic design job (coming in March!). Spence just finished designing our first Every-Tuesday products page (launching this coming Monday) and created this cool barbershop website template, which he’s currently converting into wordpress. Yep. Haven’t left our computers much, haha. Whatever you’re up to this month or have plans for in the coming weeks, I hope this January 2016 hand lettered desktop wallpaper will get you excited for the new beginnings of new things 🙂

It’s time for a new hand lettered desktop wallpaper! I’ve really enjoyed making these the last few months and plan to keep these going all next year – it’s also nice to get a frequent refresh on my own desktop 🙂 This month’s wallpaper doubles as a sneak peek! I’m half way through creating my next font – a brush script this time, and I just finished up the full lowercase portion. The December lettering you see will soon be an available font! Look for it next month 😉 Until then – grab the wallpaper in two different sizes: 1920×1080 and 1280×1024 with and without dates below!

One week to go! I’m so excited (and counting down the days) to see my sister a week from today, who Spence and I will be celebrating with. Since we’re only a week out, I wanted to put together a few freebie Thanksgiving vectors for any last minute craft or design pieces you might be putting together. These could easily be used on seating cards, greeting cards or stenciled on napkins 🙂 The download comes as an ai, eps + psd file for versions of Illustrator and Photoshop, CS3 or newer. Download + larger preview below!

Today is a big Tuesday! I just went live with my newest kit, Glitz + Glam, Digital Hot Foil and Glitter Textures, AND I’m giving one of those textures away for free in this post! I’ve gotten a few questions on how I apply gold textures to some of my Instagram images, so with the release of the kit, the free texture, and the holidays coming up, I wanted to share how to create hot foil typography using Photoshop and Illustrator this week. This week’s freebie comes as a seamless pattern file, high res tileable jpg and layer style. Read on for the freebie, tutorial, and more info on the kit!

Thanksgiving is exactly two weeks from today! Seemed about time for a thank you card freebie 😉 Use this hand lettered card for any thankful occasion! Card template can be passed through any home printer on 8.5″x11″ or A4 sized paper. The pdf printable download comes in two (folded) sizes: 7″x5″ (for any A7 envelope) and 6″x4″ (for any A4 sized envelope). Get the download link and see preview images below!

With November right around the weekend, it’s time for a new desktop wallpaper! Here in Georgia, all of the green has officially transitioned into oranges and browns and sidewalks carry a little rustle of leaves with every step. I’m really enjoying the cooler breezes, the absence of humidity, and I’m soaking in every fall walk we can squeeze in before I’m bundled head to toe 🙂

I decided to go a little ‘harvest’ themed with these November desktop wallpapers, incorporating the geometric feather we created in Illustrator this week, along with a hand drawn leafy stem from the leaves + flourishes pack. The download includes two common resolutions: 1920×1080 and 1280×1024 with and without dates; preview images below!

Happy Tuesday! Today is my official announcement that my newest Skillshare class, Waterbrush Lettering Essentials, is live! If you enjoyed this tutorial or this one on using a waterbrush for watercolor or ink lettering, this class was made for you. We’ll go much deeper than in the tutorials by going over typographic watercolor blending techniques and 3 methods for establishing your own unique lettering style using a waterbrush. The final project in the class is a waterbrush lettered greeting card you’ll be able to gift to a loved one – and with the holidays just around the corner, your cards will definitely be standing out. 😉 Enrollment in the class includes a resources pdf which lists all of the products used, a brush-style lettering inspiration pdf so you can find lettering to inspire your own style, and a greeting card template pdf you’ll be able to use to make greeting cards from any paper you have at home. For readers of this blog, I’m giving the resources AND the inspiration pdf away for free this week!

Today is an especially happy Thursday, because 2 years ago today was the very first Every-Tuesday post! I can’t believe how much has changed in that time and I couldn’t be happier delivering new design goodies and tutorials here every week. Speaking of design goodies – it wouldn’t be a proper birthday without a few design gifts! To celebrate 2 years, this week’s freebie is a set of birthday vectors as an ai, eps and psd for versions of Illustrator and Photoshop, CS3 or newer. See the full preview below!
