Ok you guys, just *one* more pattern tutorial 😂This was too fun and too easy to resist sharing. The last couple of pattern tutorials were definitely on the more advanced side, but this one is perfect for intermediate/ambitious beginners!

We’ll start by making our lettering brush and I’ll show you an easy way to preview/adjust the pattern before adding it to the brush. I share all of my brush settings and then we start playing with it! You’ll see how to apply it to shapes for quick wreaths and then we’ll fill out our summery lettering with florals and foliage accents, finished off with some paint splatter and a watercolor paper texture.

One of Spring’s first cues here in the south are moths flying around porch lights in the evenings. This sent me down a rabbit hole of ideas and searching through pages of moth photography 😂There are just.soooo.many! And many beautiful ones I had never seen before. Instead of just illustrating a moth, this week, we’re adding a little doodle magic and lots of fun, gritty texture. ✨

After the seamless pattern tutorial the other week and the free seamless pattern brushes last week, I wasn’t quite ready to stop this pattern train 🚂 So this week, I’m sharing how I make a seamless pattern brush in Procreate. But this is soooo much more than just a standard pattern brush tutorial. I’m also sharing how I add transparency and texture to those brushes, alllll of my pattern brush settings *and* how I use color dynamics to create soft gradients 🤩 There’s a TON of info packed into this one and the possibilities really are endless!

The messy watercolor style is so versatile: add as much or as little mess as you’d like, but make sure nothing is perfect! Let the perfectionist pressure go and simply have fun making a mess 😉 While my new course focuses heavily on illustration, I thought it would be fun to share how I apply this style to lettering this week. This will give you a peek into the messy process and you can even use the free sampler brushes I gave away last week for it!

This has been one of my most requested tutorials so far this year, and today, it’s live! In this video, I’m sharing the process I follow for creating a seamless, simple repeat pattern in Procreate. By the end, you’ll have a pattern that seamlessly repeats on all four sides, and you’ll see how to test it to check it, too 🍋 Use this method with any subjects you’d like and when you’re done, upload the pattern square to your favorite textile site (here’s one of my favorites), or add it into Photoshop and have more fun – that pattern square is all you need ✨

I’ve got a quick tip for you this week! Procreate has changed their text tool several times since it was first introduced and if you’re still learning the program, this part of it can get pretty overwhelming. In today’s video, I share how I use the text tool, keep all of the options straight and easily make edits to typeable text without breaking any glass in the process 🔨

My friends from Archer & Olive got in touch recently to tell me about their line of Procreate assets! Once I saw their calendar stamps, I knew I had to add them to a design, so this week, we’re creating a digital weekly planner, all in Procreate. We’re even putting it into a spiral bound notebook we’ll make from scratch, too!

I’ve had numerous requests recently for a vid explaining how I create my color palettes, so that’s what we’re talking about this week! This is a big topic since there are so many different ways to create harmonious color palettes. This video focuses on my favorite go-to method which I’ve found to be pretty fail safe. You may not have seen this method before, so I hope it’s one you’ll enjoy and continue to use! 🎨

I’ve got a 3 part ‘love series’ leading up to Valentine’s Day this year and today is tutorial no. 1! These will all be beginner/intermediate skill levels, so if you’re a more advanced user, there’s plenty of opportunity to take the designs in any direction that you’d like. This week, we’re getting things started with a little coffee date ☕️
