It’s the last Thursday in February, which means it’s time for your free March 2018 desktop wallpapers! This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. The gold details you see are from my Procreate Metallic Texture Kit, available here. For the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.

The download includes the March 2018 desktop wallpapers in two common resolutions: 1280x1024px and 1920x1080px, with and without dates. I’ve left the year off of the ‘no-dates’ versions, so you can use it for any March in the future, too!

It’s the last Thursday in January, which means it’s time for your free February 2018 desktop wallpapers! While my husband, Spence, recovered from recent hip surgery, I kept him company in our livingroom, doodling out wallpapers on the iPad. This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. The silver glitter you see is from my Procreate Metallic Texture Kit, available here. For the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.

It’s the last Thursday in December, which means it’s time for your free January 2018 desktop wallpapers! I’ve been spending a lot of time in doctor waiting rooms the past few months (my husband, Spence, has been dealing with hip + hernia issues for over a year now), so I always take my iPad with me to doodle. This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. There’s a new change coming to Every-Tuesday for 2018, so be sure to read below to stay in the loop/get the head’s up!

It’s the last Thursday in November, which means it’s time for your free December 2017 desktop wallpapers! This month, I jumped back on the iPad to create a winter themed lettering doodle. I first sketched the lettering on paper, took a photo of it, then used it as a template in Procreate. The foil textures (gold lettering, silver snow) are from my Procreate Metallic Texture Kit and the entire wallpaper was illustrated/lettered with default Procreate brushes. The final illustration was exported as a PSD into Photoshop, where I added the dates using my font, Miss Magnolia. ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance.

It’s the last Thursday in October, which means it’s time for your free November 2017 desktop wallpapers! This month, I decided to jump on the iPad to create a fall themed illustration/doodle explosion wallpaper 🙂 November is hand lettered with my own custom Procreate brush (all illustrations were created with that same texture brush) and the dates are set in my newest font, Skinny Jeans (caps style). The final illustration was exported out of Procreate as a psd, where it was slightly edited (subtle watercolor background texture added) and then combined and resized with the dates.

In my online course, Lettering Layouts, we talk about how to pair different styles of lettering and creates beautiful, impactful messages with them. Sometimes it can be tough just coming up with some different lettering ideas, though! To make things a little easier, this week I’m sharing 10 super easy hand lettering enhancements anyone can do. We’ll slowly increase in complexity as we go along, but you’ll see quickly how easy they are to apply. I’ve also included a free pdf of everything we covered below 😉 All you need is a pen and/or pencil and some paper, so let’s get lettering!

It’s the last Thursday in September, which means it’s time for your free spooky/eerie October 2017 desktop wallpapers! I’ve been away from my watercolors a little more than I’d like, so it was time to bring them back for October! The ‘spooky’ texture was created using a saltwater wash with this Winsor & Newton pan set and a no.8 round brush. ‘October’ is set in my font, Hawthorne Script, and the dates are set in my other font, Espresso Roast (caps style). The texture was scanned in and everything was combined + enhanced in Photoshop.

It’s the last Thursday in August, which means it’s time for your free September 2017 desktop wallpapers! I’ve been experimenting with freehand brush lettering quite a bit lately (check out some examples on my instagram), so I thought it would be fun to bring that into a wallpaper. I’ve never created a wallpaper like this before, or fully black and white, so it felt good to change things up a little 🙂 The lettering was created using this no.0 round Winsor & Newton Cotman brush with this slightly diluted Dr. Ph. Martin’s black concentrated watercolor (3-4 drops of water per drop of watercolor) on copy paper. It was scanned in, with contrast enhanced in photoshop and a watercolor paper texture added to the background. All days of the week (R is for Thursday to avoid two same sized T’s) and numbers were typeset using the caps style of my font, Espresso Roast.

It’s the last Thursday in July, which means it’s time for your free August 2017 desktop wallpapers! It had been a little while since I created a desktop wallpaper using Procreate, so that was the plan for August. If you saw this post, then you know that I’ve been obsessing over 3D hand lettered signage lately. I wanted to experiment with bringing this same look onto the iPad, and after a few hours of playing around, I had exactly what I was going for. On a whim, I decided to integrate textures from my metallic procreate kit. The final design was exported into Photoshop where the dates were added using my font, Miss Magnolia. The addition of the glitter, especially, made this come to life and I already love having it on my desktop, even if it’s a little early 🙂

Happy Thursday! Today I have an awesome gift to share with you! My friends at Vecteezy put together an incredible set of 8 seamless ink texture patterns just for Every-Tuesday readers! I got so excited after I received them that I started playing around with them right away (see below). This free set comes not only as ai files, but eps files, psd files, a photoshop pat file *and* png files. Instructions on how to use them + ideas for use are all below!

It’s the last Thursday in June, which means it’s time for your free July 2017 desktop wallpapers! This month, I wanted to experiment with a new technique for creating watercolor textures. I picked up these small spray bottles, filled one with regular water and used it, along with this no.4 round brush to create the texture. Each new layer, I let *almost* dry before adding a little extra color to create more depth/vibrancy. It was created using this pan set – I was on the fence when I originally bought it since it’s a little pricey, but it has hands down become my favorite watercolor set (even beating out liquid concentrated!). I scanned the final texture in, made a few minor color enhancements in Photoshop, added July which I hand lettered, and typeset the dates using Miss Magnolia.

The download includes the wallpapers in two common resolutions: 1280x1024px and 1920x1080px, with and without dates. I’ve left the year off of the ‘no-dates’ versions, so you can use it for any July in the future, too!

Happy Thursday, friends! Earlier this week (on Tuesday, as fate would have it), my youtube channel hit 100,000 subscribers, so I wanted to make it extra special by celebrating with a free font!

I’ve been posting a new tutorial/video every single Tuesday for nearly three years now. Your support over that time – whether you are a new follower or have been along for the full ride, has meant more to me than I can possibly express. Each tutorial takes a minimum of 4-6 hours to complete. From concept, to figuring out the best possible process for it (*making it before teaching it* time), recording, editing, tagging, uploading, writing the accompanying blog post, creating images and announcing it on various social channels. It’s a labor of love I’m happy to continue each week because of all of you.

To celebrate properly, today I’m giving away my new font, Corner Bakery, which is all yours to pick up below 🙂
