Desktop Wallpapers, Freebies

It’s the last Thursday in November, which means it’s time for your free December 2019 desktop wallpapers! This month’s wallpaper was entirely created in Procreate, with just the dates added in using Photoshop and my font, Miss Magnolia. I’ve wanted to try a ribbon style lettering wallpaper for awhile and December felt like the perfect month for it! If this is something you’d like to see a tutorial for, leave a comment and I’ll put it on my list! For the dates, ‘R’ is for Thursday, to distinguish it from a same-sized Tuesday ‘T’ at a glance. 

The download includes the December 2019 desktop wallpapers in two common resolutions: 1280x1024px and 1920x1080px, with and without dates. I’ve left the year off of the ‘no-dates’ versions, so you can use it for any December in the future, too! If you download these wallpapers often, please read below for an important update about 2020.

This is one of those questions that has a lot of variables, so I’m sharing my process specifically this week. The main variables include what kind of monitor you have, what kind of printer you’re using and what type of paper you’re printing on. There are SO many different combinations of those three items that it’s difficult to say, ‘do this and you’re set!’ I’ll break down everything to keep in mind, though, and share my best tips for how to print artwork from Procreate. I’m realllly excited about this week’s Procreate tutorial! Little polaroids are some of my favorite things to make – you’ll definitely notice that if you’ve spent any time on my site. A couple years ago, I showed how to do something similar in Photoshop, so I thought, “Why not try it in Procreate?” Turns out, it’s even easier in Procreate! I got my hands on these watercolor brush pens a few weeks ago and I haven’t been able to put them down! One of my new favorite ways to use them is by making colorful feathers and adding in details using gel pens. Since they blend with water so perfectly, there are so many ways to create colorful patterns and blends. After the positive feedback from the coffee icon tutorial, I thought it would be fun to follow it with a cute notebook icon since they go so well together in real life 🙂 This one is slightly more advanced; We’ll be working off of my illustration vs a stock photo (though you can totally use a stock one if you’d like!). There are also quite a few additional components compared to the coffee icon, but this is still very doable for beginners! Read on to create your own cute notebook icon in Adobe Illustrator! If you’re a list maker, doodler or layout lover, chances are you’re familiar with bullet journaling. Now that we’re in the new year, what better way to kick things off than with a bullet journal weekly planner design?! After I created this tutorial, I received a few questions about how to create pattern brushes with corners in Illustrator. If you ever need your pattern brush applied to a 90º angle, you’ll need to implement custom corners. Here’s the kicker, though; Illustrator CC makes corners super easy when the pattern brush is geometric. When your pattern brush is hand drawn, there are extra considerations to make, so we’re covering them all in this week’s tutorial. Read on to create hand drawn pattern brushes with corners!
